Artist Bio 

Since forming in 2023 they have released 2 albums, made #3 in the Irish independent album Charts and toured the UK, USA, mainland Europe and of course, Ireland.

Born 2nd youngest in a family of 10, band leader Leon Stax took influences from all genres coming through the stereo in his vibrant home. Through playing in various bands with his 2 brothers Leon finally came to find that his true calling was in Soul music.

After many years of quietly writing he put together a band in Galway in 2023 and began The Leon Stax Equation. They are a group driven by breakbeat drumming, smoky, sometimes irreverent vocals and familiar yet original lyrics. It is music meant to make you feel something.

Live they are a force to be reckoned with. Their most recent Irish tour saw them sellout shows in Galway, Cork and their hometown of Trim. They are no strangers to the festival stage either, with high energy shows at Electric Picnic, Ealu Le Grá, Love Is a Stranger, Beyond the Pale and of course, Cork Jazz Festival. 

They have played abroad including the famous Next Door Records London, the City Winery Manhattan and Shrine, Harlem NYC.

They are self produced and work out of their barn in county Meath. In the studio the band have a live recorded feel and analog sound that picks up where the Soul and Rock classics of the 1960's left off.

The Leon Stax Equation's 3rd studio album 'In View' hit #3 in the Irish independent album charts in May 2026 just behind Kneecap at #1 and Leevy at #1. It is out on all major streaming platforms and available on CD and vinyl from their bandcamp store.
